The Ripper is a melee in both Fallout and Fallout 2. It has excellent damage statistics and is one of the best melee weapons available. However, to operate the Ripper, Small Energy Cells are required.

The Ripper is a vibroblade weapon. There are a number of steel teeth that rotate at an extremely fast pace. This allows the Ripper to easily cut through a targets flesh and bone.

The weapon should be used in combination with the Strength skill.

[edit] Fallout 3

Weapon Type Melee
Maximum Damage 16
Damage Type Normal
Ammo Type n/a
Ammo Capacity n/a
Weight 6

The Ripper is a Melee Weapon in Fallout 3. Unlike other Melee Weapons you can't swing the Ripper, simply hold down the action button and the chainsaw will start then run at an enemy and watch as the Ripper tears them apart. It degrades at a rather moderate pace, but they can be found quite often later in the game so if you use them earlier on keep a lot on you for repairs.
