The Flamer is a Big Guns weapon in Fallout 3. It's one of the most effective weapons to use in close combat attacks and it's one of the few weapons that are better used outside of V.A.T.S. mode. When used, it will spray fire over a short distance, when an enemy is caught in the flames it will drain their Hit Points until they eventually die. If you attack someone with the Flamer while in sneak mode, there's a chance their body will explode into pieces and continue to burn on the ground.
The Flamer is commonly found on Raiders at a low level, but they're also used by the Brotherhood of Steel, Outcasts and the Enclave.
There's a unique Flamer called the Burnmaster, it can be found in the Franklin Metro Utility near Falls Church. There's also 2 new flamers added in the third DLC pack Broken Steel, they are the Slo-Burn Flamer, and the Rapid-Torch Flamer.
