Alan is a member of The Family. If the player convinces Vance to protect the people of Arefu during the Blood Ties quest, Alan will be sent to protect the town from any hostiles.
Alan moves into the house next to the entrance of Arefu. The house is next to the Brahmin.
If the player murders all the members of The Family after Alan has been sent to Arefu, he will go on a rampage and attempt to kill everyone in Arefu. He will also attack the layer on sight.
He is equipped with an Assault Rifle and a Merc Troublemaker Outfit.
