The Courier starts off in Doctor Mitchell's house after nearly being killed for the Lucky 38 Platinum Chip. He asks the protagonist the first basic questions while the Reflectron appears, to determine the characters' appearance. Walking to and using the Vigour-Matic determines how many points the player will have for the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. statistics and speaking to Mitchell again determines the characters' starting traits and skills. After, at the door, Mitchell gives the Courier some of the protagonists belongings he found with the body, as well as any of the downloadable packs.
