The Fallout Series is a term used to describe all three Fallout games, Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout 3, and it's spin-offs, Fallout Tactics, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, and Fallout: New Vegas. The first two were published by Interplay, but Bethesda Studios bought the Fallout franchise and released Fallout 3, a first-person shooter role-playing game. Obsidian Entertainment holds the rights to create Fallout: New Vegas, an upcoming spin-off game. The first two Fallout games were role-playing games exclusively for the PC and Mac, and came out nearly a decade ago.

[edit] Gameplay

It had an isometric view, and was point-and-click. When Bethesda gained the rights to the franchise they marketed the series on the PC, Xbox 360, and the PS3.

Every game had a variety of weapons/armor and perks in it, as well as customizable characters. SPECIAL plays a big role in all of the Fallout games.

[edit] Plot

Main Article: Fallout Universe

The Fallout games are set in the United States roughly 200 years after a nuclear war between China, the United States, and other countries. The conflict is known as the Great War and is the single most important event in the Fallout series. Wars, plagues, and tension paved the way for this exchange of nuclear missiles. The Fallout series is actually set in an alternate-history or timeline, where a mixture of real and fictitious events happened.

Concept art of great war

A main story-key of the Fallout series is Vaults, or underground shelters built to preserve humanity in the event of a nuclear war. Most of these bunkers were not made to save humanity, but rather built to experiment on the vault residents. In Vault 87, FEV was tested on the people of the vault. Vault 101 was never meant to be opened. The mastermind behind these monstrosities are none other than the Enclave, a shadow-government.
